They have a 2 yr degree for auto tech. It's a broad and thorough program, from diagnostics to engine building and dyno tuning. We did all of the machine work for my VG here :) (while all of the other students worked on domestic V8's). It's also very affordable (city college tuition rate) My cousin completed the program and learned a lot, went on to complete all of his ASE certs immediately after. He landed a job at Galpin, but quit to finish his mechanical engineering degree.
